Hair units for Black men in Atlanta, matched to your texture.

Your hair has its own pattern, its own density and its own edge. A unit for Black men has to follow all of it. We match texture first, then blend the unit into your fade and line-up so there is no seam to find.

Texture matching comes first

Most units that look wrong are wrong because of texture. Straight hair on a man with tight curls reads as fake from across the room. We choose the unit to match the hair you already have, so the join at the sides and back is not visible.

That means looking at your curl pattern in person, not choosing from a photo. Is it loose and wavy, a defined curl, or a tight coil? Does it dry soft or stay dense? Is it shiny or matte? These details decide which hair is the right choice. Units are available in textures that match waves, curls and coils.

You will see the match against your own hair before anything is attached.

Colour matters as much as pattern. Black hair is rarely one flat shade, and a unit that is darker or glossier than your own stands out in sunlight. We match the tone and the sheen so the unit and your natural hair catch the light the same way.

Waves, curls and coils

Each texture has its own demands, and a good unit respects them.

  • Waves. A wave pattern depends on direction and consistency. The unit is cut and laid so the pattern runs the way yours does, then brushed and finished in the chair. See the wave results in our gallery.
  • Curls. Curls need the right size and spring. Too loose and the unit looks relaxed against your own hair, too tight and it looks artificial. We match the curl so the top moves like the rest of your head.
  • Coils. A coily, high-density unit can give you a full high-top or a defined twist-out. Density needs care, because the coil should look full without looking heavy.

Blending into fades and line-ups

The edge between unit and natural hair is where the work shows. For a fade, the unit is cut into your sides and back so the hair graduates down with no step. Your own hair is the guide, and the unit is tapered to meet it.

For a line-up, we place and cut the unit first, then your barber can edge it up like any other hairline. Plenty of men keep their regular barber and bring a photo of the cut they want. A sharp line is possible because the unit is cut in the chair, not shipped pre-cut.

Flat-tops, high-top fades, wave units and low fades all work with a hair unit. Our hair systems page explains the base options that make those edges possible.

The back and sides matter as much as the front. If the fade is clean and the top is full, but the transition is soft or uneven, the eye finds it. We check the join from every angle before you leave, and a regular maintenance visit keeps it crisp as your own hair grows.

Edges and the hairline

A hairline that is too straight, too low or too sharp is the quickest giveaway. A natural hairline has slight irregularity and a soft transition. We map yours to how your own hair used to grow, and where useful, draw it on before the install so you can check it in the mirror.

If your own edges have thinned, tell us. We can bring a unit up to meet them, or leave a margin of your natural hair at the front so the transition looks like you. If you have tension or traction thinning, we will choose an attachment method that does not pull on it.

Everything is private and one-on-one, so you can take the time you need to get the front right.

Choosing your look

A unit is a chance to decide what you actually want. Some men want their old hairline back exactly as it was. Others want a sharper line, a fuller top or a style they have not worn before. Both are fine, and we will tell you what is realistic for your head.

Come with photos. Show us the fade, the wave pattern or the hairline you want, and show us what you are trying to move away from. We will talk through how each would sit on you, and which base and texture will get you there. Our homepage results show real examples.

Once your unit is fitted, it is cut and styled in the chair, so you can see the finished look before you leave.

Looking after a unit with textured hair

Textured units need moisture without heaviness. Use light products that suit the unit, and avoid thick oils near the bond. A satin bonnet at night protects waves and curl pattern, and keeps the style fresh.

Come in every 2 to 4 weeks for maintenance. That is when we clean the base, re-attach and recut the fade, so the edges stay sharp as your own hair grows. Read more on our hair unit maintenance page. Most units last 3 to 6 months.

Most hair units cost $250 to $750, with maintenance visits typically $75 to $200. Your exact price depends on the base, hair length, texture and quality, and is confirmed at your consultation.

FAQ

Hair units for Black men questions, answered.

Can you match 4C coily hair?

Yes. Units are available in coily textures, and we match the pattern, density and finish to your own hair.

Can my barber still cut it?

Yes. Plenty of men keep their barber. Tell them you wear a unit, and bring your specialist's advice on what to avoid near the bond.

Can I keep my waves?

Yes. A wave-textured unit is cut and laid to match your pattern, and can be brushed and styled like your own.

Can you cover a receding hairline and a bald crown?

Yes. Many men come in with a receding front, a thin crown or both. The unit is sized to cover what you need and blended into the hair you keep.

Will a unit pull on my edges?

It should not. Tell your specialist about any thinning or sensitivity and they will choose a method that is gentle on your hairline.

Do you have examples I can look at?

Yes. See the results on our homepage, including waves, a coily high-top fade and a flat-top with a mapped hairline.
